Jain New Year

The Jain new year is celebrated on the first day of the month of Kartika, which comes after the festival of Diwali. The exact date varies because it is calculated using the lunar calendar.
The Jain new year is significant because it marks the day when Mahavira’s chief disciple, Gautama Swami, attained supreme knowledge. It also marks the beginning of the new commercial year, when merchants open new financial book. Ritual of Snatra Puja is performed at the temple.

For the Jains, this annual festival commemorates Mahāvīra’s final liberation. It unfolds in various stages and corresponds to the beginning of the new year. It is celebrated with a ritual called Snatra Puja at the temple.
